Sumac Poutine Fries

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 large Idaho potatoes cut into fries (sweet or red potatoes or a mix of variety of potatoes can also be used)
  • 1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 cup white cheddar or mozzarella cheese cut into small pieces
  • ½ cup Joon Sumac Sauce
  • 1 small onion finely chopped (optional)
  • Salt and Pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Toss the cut potatoes with oil, salt and pepper.
  2. Place the potatoes on a greased baking sheet and bake at 375ºF for 30–35 minutes. Turn once or twice till they are evenly cooked.
  3. For the gravy, cook the onion and the mushrooms gently in one tablespoon of the oil till the onions are soft and translucent, add the Sumac Sauce.
  4. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Top the fries with cheese and add the warm Sumac Sauce.
